THE ACROPOLIS MUSEUM
A CLASSIC DESTINATION

This exhibition is hosted in a specially-designed
area of the Main Terminal Building and orga-
nized in cooperation with the Acropolis Muse-
um. Housing the masterpieces of the Acropolis,
the Museum offers its visitors a fresh view of life in
Greek antiquity in the comfort of an award win-
ning architect designed contemporary building.
The exhibition includes cast copies of the west
Parthenon frieze and a cast copy of the Peplos
Kore, one of the most beautiful votive offerings
of the archaic Acropolis. Additionally, the exhibi-
tion presents a digital presentation of the Peplos
Kore with the marble surface of the statue colored
as it is thought to have been originally, as well as a
short video presentation of the Acropolis Muse-
um. / Σε έναν ειδικά διαμορφωμένο χώρο στε-
γάζεται αυτή η σημαντική έκθεση, που στήθη-
κε σε συνεργασία με το Μουσείο Ακρόπολης.
Στεγάζοντας τα αριστουργήματα της Ακρόπο-
λης, το Μουσείο προσφέρει μια φρέσκια ματιά
στη ζωή των αρχαίων Αθηναίων, μέσα στο άνε-
το περιβάλλον ενός σύγχρονου κτηρίου, σχεδι-
ασμένου από βραβευμένο αρχιτέκτονα. Η έκθε-
ση περιλαμβάνει αντίγραφα των λίθων της δυτι-
κής ζωφόρου του Παρθενώνα και ένα αντίγρα-
φο της Πεπλοφόρου, ενός εκ των ωραιότερων
αφιερωμάτων της αρχαϊκής Ακρόπολης. Παράλ-
ληλα, παρουσιάζει μια ψηφιακή αποκατάστα-
ση της Πεπλοφόρου, στην οποία η μαρμάρινη
επιφάνεια του γλυπτού είναι χρωματισμένη έτσι
όπως πιστεύεται ότι ήταν αρχικά, καθώς και μια
σύντομη προβολή για το Μουσείο Ακρόπολης.
