director of Armonia Atenea, fills
the city with enchanting melodies.

What can a traveler find only in Athens?
The light! The unique Attica light, that
makes the marbles of the Parthenon
sparkle, gave birth to theatre, philosophy,
moderation. The light that we take for
granted, but moves visitors to tears.
What’s your contribution to Athens?
As an orchestra director and
furthermore as artistic director of one
of the most active orchestras of the
city, the Armonia Atenea - Friends of
Music Orchestra, I’m proud to be part
of the most significant “ace” in the
sleeve of contemporary Greece, named
contemporary Greek culture. Because
of this culture, all the gods in the world
turn their gaze to our city.
Which cultural performance would you
identify with contemporary Athens?
The wonderful musical thriller “Sweeney
Todd” of the legendary creator Steven
Sondheim, at the Herod Atticus theatre,
an Athens Festival event (June 25/26
with the Armonia Atenea - Friends of
Music Orchestra). One of the greatest
masterpieces of contemporary musical
theatre, under the shadow of the
Parthenon, next to the place that gave
birth to theatre. The international,
the contemporary, the great and the
beautiful together!
