The Acropolis Museum

This exhibition is hosted in a specially-designed
area of the Main Terminal Building and organized
in cooperation with the Acropolis Museum.
Housing the masterpieces of the Acropolis, the
Museum offers its visitors a fresh view of life
in Greek antiquity in the comfort of an award
winning architect designed contemporary building.
The exhibition includes cast copies of the west
Parthenon frieze and a cast copy of the Peplos
Kore, one of the most beautiful votive offerings of
the archaic Acropolis. Additionally, the exhibition
presents a digital presentation of the Peplos Kore
with the marble surface of the statue colored as
it is thought to have been originally, as well as a
short video presentation of the Acropolis Museum.
Σε έναν ειδικά διαμορφωμένο χώρο στεγάζεται
αυτή η σημαντική έκθεση, που στήθηκε σε συνερ-
γασία με το Μουσείο Ακρόπολης. Στεγάζοντας τα
αριστουργήματα της Ακρόπολης, το μουσείο προ-
σφέρει μια φρέσκια ματιά στη ζωή των αρχαίων
Αθηναίων μες στο άνετο περιβάλλον ενός σύγχρο-
νου κτιρίου, σχεδιασμένου από βραβευμένο αρ-
χιτέκτονα. Η έκθεση περιλαμβάνει αντίγραφα των
λίθων της δυτικής ζωφόρου του Παρθενώνα κι ένα
αντίγραφο της «Πεπλοφόρου», ενός εκ των ωραι-
ότερων αφιερωμάτων της αρχαϊκής Ακρόπολης.
Παράλληλα, παρουσιάζει μία ψηφιακή αποκατά-
σταση της «Πεπλοφόρου», στην οποία η μαρμά-
ρινη επιφάνεια του γλυπτού είναι χρωματισμένη
έτσι όπως πιστεύεται ότι ήταν αρχικά, καθώς και
μία σύντομη προβολή για το Μουσείο Ακρόπολης.
