ATHENS, May 30, 2006 – Effective May 30, Delta will be the only airline to offer non-stop service between Athens and the South-eastern United States. Travel to the United States and beyond now will be easier than ever for customers travelling from Athens, thanks to Delta Air Lines’ new non-stop service to be launched between Athens International Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. “We are pleased to be launching this new service today and to open our global network to travellers from the Athens International Airport," said Loren Neuenschwander, Delta’s managing director Atlantic Region. “This new flight to the world’s largest airline hub brings added convenience and travel options for business and leisure passengers to and from Athens, to connect to some 127 non-stop destinations worldwide, particularly key business destinations such as Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. and leisure destinations such as Miami, Orlando, Phoenix and Tampa as well as multiple opportunities for freight forwarders and cargo shippers.” On the occasion of the launch of the new service, Dr. Yiannis Paraschis, Deputy CEO of Athens International Airport S.A. stated: ‘It is with great pleasure that we welcome Delta’s new direct flight to Atlanta’s Hartsfield – Jackson, the world’s largest airport.
