GROUND HANDLING

WHO WE ARE

Athens International Airport (AIA) does not provide ground handling services itself but is responsible for awarding and supervising these services in accordance with local and EU Regulations.

The Ground Handling Services:

  • Carry out processes required for the award of Ground Handling Rights to third parties
  • Enter into Agreements with the respective companies
  • Work as the focal point of communication and co-ordination between AIA and the ground handlers operating at the Airport and co-coordinate all issues arising from the said Agreements
  • Represent AIA in AIA’s Users Committee and AOC
  • Cooperate with State Authorities in order to safeguard the efficient and smooth provision of ground handling services at the Airport
  • Are responsible for the Ground Handling Centralised Resources Pricing and the related Incentives Programme
  • Are responsible for the on ground provision of assistance services to disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility when traveling by air
